School Uniform

Wearing a school uniform plays a key role in promoting pride for our pupils. It fosters self-confidence and a feeling of belonging to a special community.  Additionally, it removes the extra pressures of deciding what to wear and trying to meet the expectations and approval of peers.  At Christ the King Catholic School we take immense pride in the way we present ourselves, and recognise that our physical presentation is often a pre-curser to excellent presentation of behaviour and focus in learning.

Information on our school uniform supplier can be found at the bottom of this page.

Free pre-loved items

It is expected that all pupils comply with our uniform policy and we have made every effort to help keep the costs of our uniform affordable. We offer a free swap shop in our main school office of second-hand uniform items. Parents can take an item or swap for an outgrown piece. We also welcome donations from parents to help keep this sustainable.

Reasonable adjustments for SEND

We know that within our school family, there are a wide range of needs: including sensory aversion and physical difficulties with certain clothing types. If you would like to discuss reasonable adjustments to our uniform expectations for your child's sensory and/or physicals, please contact the school.

Non-uniform and themed days

Throughout the school year, we may host non-uniform or themed days where children can wear items to suit a special occasion.  We will never expect parents to purchase new clothing items specially for this purpose and any involvement in these is entirely optional. To help with affordability, we encourage items based on what we think children will already have at home, for example wearing pyjamas to school on World Book Day or suggesting how a 1940s style costume can be styled using everyday clothing most children will have for our D-Day celebrations.

On these non-uniform and theme days parents are mindful of practicality of the clothing so that children are able to engage in their usual learning activities.

We kindly request that pupils do not bring in items which might be perceived or used as a weapon, and that masks are not worn because these can be distressing for some of our younger and SEN pupils.

All costumes should be in-keeping with what is age-approriate for a primary school child and free from any offensive or upsetting logos, phrases or branding.
