SEND Information Report

Section 1: Special Educational Needs and Disabilities at Christ the King Catholic School

Last updated: Feburary 2026

At Christ the King Catholic Primary School, we are committed to welcoming every child with the love, dignity and compassion that sits at the heart of our Catholic mission. Our SEND Information Report explains how we identify needs early, work in partnership with families, and provide tailored support so that every pupil can flourish and fulfil their God‑given potential. You can also download our parent‑friendly one‑page guide, which gives a simple overview of how we support children with additional needs. These documents reflect our Trust’s vision of offering an all‑round education rooted in Christian values, and show how we work together to help every child grow, learn and thrive.

To help provide a more accurate view of our school SEND information, where appropriate, this SEND information report has been separated to distinguish between the mainstream and resource base settings.

Our intent and values

Our Catholic ethos shapes how we welcome, teach and care for every child. This report explains how we identify need, plan support, review progress and work in partnership with our families.

This links to our over‑arching Trust vision of ‘aspiring to give children an all-round education rooted in Christian values in a nurturing environment where they flourish, become lifelong learners and fulfil their potential.’ We achieve this by:

  • planning for diversity from the outset and adapting provision so every pupil can flourish;
  • rooting our curriculum and pastoral care in Christian values and a nurturing environment;
  • enabling pupils to become confident, compassionate, life‑long learners; and
  • living our Trust values of Stewardship, Respect, Curiosity, Forgiveness, Love and Resilience.

At our school we support our families by communicating clearly, acting early when concerns arise, and co‑designing support around each child. Therefore we ask that parents share concerns promptly, attend review meetings, and work with us on agreed strategies at home.

Our Resource Base SEND profile:

What should I do if I think my child has SEN in the mainstream, or their SEN needs are not being fully met in the Resource Base?

Tell us about your concerns
We will invite you to a meeting to discuss them
We will decide whether your child needs SEN support

If you think your child might have SEN, or that their SEN needs are not being met in the Resource Base, the first person you should tell is your child’s teacher.

You can arrange a meeting by emailing the school office, or speak to them at school pick-up to schedule a time to meet.

They will pass the message on to our SENCO, Sophie, Short.  You can also contact the SENCO directly via email senco@ctk.thedcet.com

We will meet with you to discuss your concerns and try to get a better understanding of what your child’s strengths and difficulties are.

Together we will decide what outcomes to seek for your child and agree on next steps.

We will make a note of what’s been discussed and add this to your child’s record. You will also be given a code to access this electronically.

If we decide that your child needs enhanced SEN support, we will formally record this and share it with you and their SEND lead worker.  For mainstream pupils, they will be addedded to the school’s SEND register.

You will be able to continue to access their on-going plans and reviews online via the access code we have already given you, but don’t worry if you need to ask for another copy of this.

You can also arrange to meet anytime to discuss updates, but we will make sure we update you in parent meetings 3 times a year.
