Welcome to The CTK Resource Base

At Christ the King Catholic School we are fortunate to have a SEN Resource Base provision for primary-aged pupils with a speech, language and communication need, in particular Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). Our vision is to create a bespoke approach to education which blends the best features of mainstream with the unique features of specialist provision, providing a sensory and nurturing SEN unit where children flourish. Through the delivery of a personalised, needs-led core curriculum, our children are able to make progress in their EHCP targets.  Our curriculum themes and topics are inspired by our mainstream provision to enable our children the best opportunity to succeed through reverse inclusion where appropriate, whilst providing a language rich and child-led pace to the core learning elements within the Resource Base.

We identify opportunities where all children spend learning time in age and stage appropriate mainstream provision across the school day, in an effort to achieve the government expectation of 50% mainstream inclusion for all children within an SEN resource base.

This specialist resource based provision includes two classes; Cherry Class typically for younger pupils and Hazel Class typically for older pupils. It is important to note however, that our classes are organised by stage not age.

We hope to send your child home excited to share their day with you, you can find general updates on the day through daily communication books as well as getting updates at pick-up time or through a weekly phonecall home if your child goes in a taxi.
