As a Catholic school, we are inspected by both Ofsted and the Catholic Schools Inspectorate (CSI). Both inspections are important and help us to make sure that we are providing the best possible education and care for our children.
Ofsted looks at the overall effectiveness of the school. The Catholic Schools Inspectorate looks closely at the Catholic life of the school, Religious Education and collective worship. This means inspectors consider how well our school lives out its Catholic mission and how our faith shapes the daily life, learning and relationships within our community.
For us, this inspection is just as significant as Ofsted because it focuses on the very heart of our school: our Catholic identity. It helps us to celebrate what we do well and guides us in continuing to improve, so that every child is supported to flourish academically, spiritually and personally.
Through the Catholic Schools Inspectorate, we are held to account for the quality of our work as a Catholic school and for the way we serve our children, families, parish and wider community. We see this as an important and positive part of our journey of continual improvement.
Catholic Schools Inspectorate Report: June 2026
We are delighted that our recent Catholic Schools Inspectorate report judged Christ The King Catholic School to be Good overall for the quality of Catholic education. The school was also judged to be Good in all three key areas: Catholic life and mission, Religious Education and Collective Worship.
Inspectors recognised our school as a strong, inclusive and welcoming family community, where provision for pupils with additional needs is a priority for all. They highlighted the strength of relationships across the school and the care shown for pupils and families.
The report celebrates the way our Catholic values are known, understood and lived out by pupils each day. Inspectors noted that pupils are happy, feel safe and know they are listened to. They also recognised that our values contribute to the consistently good behaviour seen across the school.
We are especially proud that pastoral care was identified as a significant strength. Staff and leaders were praised for prioritising the wellbeing of pupils and families and for creating a deeply inclusive environment where all are welcomed and supported.
Prayer and worship were also highlighted as central to the life of the school. Inspectors noted that, from the youngest age, pupils value worship and respond respectfully and thoughtfully during prayer and liturgy. The report also recognised the importance of our prayer spaces, including our Oratory and class prayer tables, in helping children encounter meaningful moments of reflection and worship.
In Religious Education, inspectors praised the commitment of staff and the wide range of creative opportunities offered to pupils, including drama, art, Godly Play, playdough prayers, research tasks and use of the Oratory. These approaches help make Religious Education meaningful and accessible for all learners.
The report also recognised the strength of leadership at Christ The King. Inspectors described the school as being led by a strong and passionate headteacher, supported by good governance, the Trust and a committed staff team who continually seek to improve their practice.
We are very proud of this report and of the children, staff, governors, families, parish and Trust who all contribute to making Christ The King such a special community. The inspection affirms the many strengths of our school and gives us clear next steps as we continue to grow in our mission as a Catholic school.
