Welcome to Oak Class. Here you will meet our youngest pupils in the school who are starting on their first steps in their educational journey with us. We love seeing our Reception pupils learn and grow alongside their Year 1 friends.
Our class teacher is Mr Page.

Our children are loving the continuous provision both inside and outside of the classroom. Everyday we find a new way to love our learning! The children are encouraged to be independent and follow their own ideas and interests.
We have been reading the text 'Astro Girl' an inspiring tale about a girl who followed her dream to become an Astronaut. This fits well with our ethos that you can be whatever you want to be if you work hard.
The children have been exploring weight and capacity in Maths. The Year 1 children have been partitioning numbers and using number lines to secure numbers to 20. They are then given provications to follow up this learning in their play. The Year 1 children now have log ins for TTRockstars an online times table app. They are being encouraged to practise the twos and tens times tables.
This term in Geography, we have been learning about where we live and what the weather is like in the United Kingdom. We have made wind streamers to measure wind direction and explored using a compass to find our way.
Science learning has led us to grouping animals by their classifications. We have made bird feeders and made tallies of common British birds spotted in the outdoor area.
Our RE learning has been about how Jesus grew up and making links to our own lives. We have talked about how people followed Jesus because they belived he was special. The children have also explored Candlemass and made a pilgrimage around the school.
Thank you to everyone who has been reading at home with their child. This is the best way to support your child with their learning and we have observed accelerated progress in those who are reading at home.
