Homework

We appreciate your support with your child’s homework. Each week, the children will be given:

  • Reading assignments- Collins Hub
  • Spelling practice via Edshed (games have been assigned for each child to practice their spellings). Your child’s login details can be found in their reading record book, along with their TTRS login for times tables practice.

It’s essential that you hear your child read as often as possible. We ask that children get at least three signatures in their reading diaries each week.

We would love to have volunteers to read with the children. If you can help, please come and speak with us!

Resources:
Additional information and resources for these topics can be found in Google Classroom.

Term 5 Overview

In Term 5, Birch Class will enjoy a broad and engaging curriculum. In English, children will be inspired by Nen and the Lonely Fisherman and The Thames and the Tide Club, using these stories to create diary entries, persuasive letters, weather reports and imaginative story retellings with dialogue.

In Maths, Year 3 pupils will focus on mass, capacity, fractions and money, while Year 2 pupils will learn about mass, capacity, temperature, fractions and time.

Our Geography topic, Where does our food come from?, will help children understand food origins, fair trade and food journeys, while developing map and data‑handling skills. In Science, pupils will explore plant growth and habitats, learning how living things depend on each other.

Children will also develop their creativity in Art through clay sculpture, improve their fitness and teamwork skills in PE with striking and fielding games, and build confidence in Spanish by expressing their likes and dislikes. In RE and PSHE, our learning will focus on Pentecost, the Holy Spirit and our school value of love, encouraging kindness and care for others.
