Consultation Admissions 2026-2027 school year
The governing body of Christ the King Catholic School, part of The Dunsten Catholic Educational Trust, are consulting on their proposed admission arrangements for the 2026-27 school year. Proposed changes from the existing arrangements include:
- The introduction of new oversubscription criteria for:
- Children who are a member of an Eastern Christian Church
- Children of another Christian denomination
- Children of another faith
- Children of a member of School staff, within each category.
- Children who are a member of an Eastern Christian Church
- The introduction of a new Supplementary Information Form (to help process applications from those applying under the religious and/or categories).
- A new In-Year application form (reflecting the above new criteria, for those applying for admission ‘In-year’ i.e. during the school year and not at the start of the Reception Year)
- The use of a random number generator to help rank applicants, rather than drawing lots.
- A revised definition of home address to include any address where the child spends any part of the school week.
Comments are not being sought on the rest of the arrangements.
You are invited to provide any comments you may wish for consideration on the proposed arrangements by 12.00pm Noon on 20 December 2024. Final arrangements will be determined by 28 February 2025 and will appear on the school/trust website by 15 March 2025.
Comments should be sent to Sarah Pinfied at The Dunstan Catholic Educational Trust spinfied@thedcet.com c/o St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Park Avenue, Bridgewater, Somerset, TA6 7EE
A copy of the draft policy for consultation can be found here.
Admissions
Christ the King Catholic Primary School, within the Diocese of Clifton, serves the Parish of Christ the King, Amesbury.
The majority of our pupils live within Amesbury, although our school family also includes pupils from the villages and areas beyond the town. We are proud to provide a robust mainstream curriculum for pupils of all faiths and none, whilst our SEN Resource Base provides a bespoke curriculum for SEN children in the South of Wiltshire. The application process for our Resource Base is separate to our mainstream school, and is managed by the SEN team in Wiltshire LA.
Applying to the mainstream school at Christ the King School does not in any way mean a future place in the Resource Base is more likely to be allocated to your child. Please contact us if you would like more information about this.
The governing body, acting in accordance with the Code of Practice and the Clifton Diocesan Policy Statement, is responsible for the admission of pupils.
